Dog Fencing: Open vs. Privacy Fencing

Dog Fencing Open vs. Privacy Fencing

A fenced outdoor area where a dog can roam free are critical elements of a happy and healthy dog.  Proper fencing is also critical in creating a safe and secure environment for your dog to run and play.  While the right fencing can actually improve the aesthetic appeal of your property, choosing the right fence product for your pet also gives you peace of mind.

Privacy Fence vs. Open View/Clear View fencing

While an open view or clear view fencing style like Chain Link, Wire Fencing, or Wrought Iron (Ornamental Metal) style contribute to a more open feel, often maintaining a stunning view, most experienced dog owners prefer privacy styles.

Why Privacy Fencing:

Especially with working class dog breeds like Border Collies and Australian Shepherds the slightest movement or sound catches their eye and therefore their attention and bark as they go to work.  While this may not bother you unfortunately the neighbors and passersby may be happy with a barking stalking dog.  With the larger more aggressive breeds a dog charging at a fence may even result in a visit with the animal control officer.  By using a privacy fence you limit the dogs view and therefore reaction to anything on the other side of the fence.  For dog owners of larger and potentially more aggressive dogs we suggest an overlapped or board on board style fence for maximum privacy and strength.  Privacy fencing also minimizes pet thieves view to your pricy pampered pooch, and or prized member of the family.

Overall beyond cost it is important to evaluate your priorities in selecting a fence, a wise choice contributes to happier neighbors, more peace of mind, and a safe and secure dog.
